Knowing when to begin monetizing your blog is one of the key things we, as bloggers must learn. The timing varies for different blogs. It ultimately is your decision to determine when it is ok to begin monetizing. You know what your goals are, no one else.
I personally think it is never really too soon to begin making money with your blog. If your goal is to make money with your blog, then by all means do it. However there are a few things I believe you should consider before beginning to monetize.
Who Are You Blogging For
If you are blogging for other bloggers, they all have their own beliefs. They might look past a new blog riddled with advertisements and decide not to stick around and read.
The less tech savvy are more likely to click on ads because they don’t distinguish them from the other content well. The more technically inclined have developed what we like to call “ad blindness.”
It might actually take some time to figure out what kind of readers your blog is attracting. Learn things like age, location, interests, and determine what type monetizing you should be doing.
This brings up the next topic, choosing your method…
What Is Your Method
If your main focus is to serve cpm or ppc ads, you might not want to place them on a website with no content. At the end of the day this is still your choice, but it just isn’t too good of a look to have a front page with banner ads and nothing to read. It’s also a little more difficult to get accepted to some advertising networks with little or no traffic.
Affiliate marketing can possibly be introduced as early as your opening day. The only downside to this is that your blog might not be as reputable, unless you’re somewhat of an internet celebrity or you some sort of prior following.
There’s also direct ad selling that, like with cpm and ppc ad networks, your traffic and content help buyers decide whether or not to advertise with you.

So When Should We Start Monetizing?
This is up to you and your type of blog, no one can give you a simple answer. People are going to tell you wait until you have X amount of blog posts and Y amount of unique visitors a day. I on the other hand say you have to look deeper than that.
