Blogging for a living is the dream of most bloggers. Getting paid enough to pay the bills just by sharing facts and your opinions.
For those of you that are already earning any kind of income from your blogs, I’m sure you remember the first ad click or affiliate sale. Your first thought was probably that financial freedom was near.
For those of you that are about to start or are just starting out, may not have had either of these experiences yet, but are probably looking forward to it.
Either way let’s figure out how we can make a living simply blogging.
Blogging Is A Job
While blogging may be part time project for you currently, in order to make full time money blogging you’re going to have to put full time effort into it. You might even find yourself doing full time work to only make part time money.
It Might Not Work
No matter how much effort you put into your blog, sometimes there just isn’t any money to be made. This is why you should make sure you choose a good niche. If you are making 0 dollars for every hour you put into your blog, you can work 24 hours a day. 24 times 0 is still 0.
Switch It Up
As I said in my last point, everything doesn’t always work. Try different methods of earning, different ad placements, different ad networks, different anything. One combination might make $5.00 a day, another may make $50.00.
Don’t Put All Of Your Eggs In One Basket
Piggybacking off of the last two points, why not have more than one blog? Just as I said before, one might earn 5 a day, the other 50.
How Much Do We Need?
In order to make a living blogging, you will have to determine your cost of living. While there are cost of living calculators out there, it is best if you determine this on your own. Take a look at all of your monthly bills and expenses and see how much you spend each month. For example, add up things like rent/mortgage, utility bills, average gas spending, cell phone bill, etc. Don’t forget to add a bit extra to put into your savings account.
Take this amount and once you are in a decent range of it, you might be ready to go all in and blog for a living.
