Everyone knows that there is no point of having a website without having traffic to said site.
People are always making suggestions like the need to work on your SEO or how important it is to promote on social media.
Don’t get me wrong here, I’ve written some of those articles myself. I’m not saying that these things aren’t important, I just don’t believe that these should be your primary focus.
One fact remains about traffic, and that is, whatever you do to get it, you will have to continue doing to keep it. That being said, if you promote on social media for an hour to get 10 visitors, you will have to promote another hour to get 10 more.
So what method of building traffic is best? What I’ve learned from experience is more content. You can promote that one article as much as you want, but eventually it’s going to die out.
More content also means more potential entry points for visitors to find your pages or articles. Nothing makes creating content more easier than having a blog. If your website is solely a blog, as this one is, you don’t really have a choice. If your website doesn’t have a blog then I suggest you get one.
I also want to talk about a few obvious reasons why you might not be getting as much traffic as you deserve:
You Don’t Have A Top Level Domain. Getting your own domain is VERY important. Think about it, dollardojo.com looks a lot more reputable than dollardojo.blogspot.com. Even if you still host at bloodspot, get your own domain! Visit the Webmaster Deals page to see if you can get a cheap domain. We’ve had deals offering domain names as low as 2.99 a year!
You Don’t Work For It. You spend more time reading these “So You Need More Website Traffic?” articles than you do actually producing content and improving your website.
You Aren’t Doing Something You Love. If you don’t have any type of passion for what you write about, it shows. If you produce poor articles, you will receive poor traffic.
I could go on and on about what you aren’t doing. At least now I hope you know what you SHOULD be doing.
