I Made My First Squidoo Sale Today

I wrote a few articles on Squidoo a few months ago. None of them had been doing too well to be honest. I don’t even remember the last time I logged on to check on them. I watch their activity from Google Analytics, but that’s about it.

To my surprise when I logged in I had a notification that someone had purchased a book through through one of my links. I received 20 points and 40 cents for the purchase. I believe the book costs about $14.00. Meaning my cut was somewhere between 2-3% of what the book retailed for. Sadly the book had nothing to do with my article, but they bought it in the same session.

I had great hopes for my Squidoo articles when I first began writing them. I felt that they were pretty interesting and well written. My articles on HubPages saw a nice amount of traffic, I felt as though the same would come from the squid. To my disappointment they aren’t showing any positive change.

Who knows? Maybe my articles will pick up in the near future and Squidoo can be a potential earner for me. It is however sad to say that at this rate of traffic and the fact that Squidoo links back here are “nofollow” now, the articles won’t really do too much to help with seo, traffic, or expenses.

You should not feel too disappointed with your income from the Squidoo articles, I admit it is a low rate, but some people don’t do well with Squidoo and prefer HubPages. I know that I never got to grips with Squidoo if I am honest, and always felt more “at home” with HubPages.

Could you change around some of your links on your Squidoo articles to make you more money? Or could you try boosting your Squidoo articles in the rankings by throwing a few links to them from Press Releases, Articles and other easy linking opportunities?

Your post is still an inspiration to me as I was never able to do well with Squidoo, and I wouldn’t mind betting a good few other people feel the same way as I do about it if they are still struggling with Squidoo, so just don’t give up on it and keep on going!

      Hi Paul,

I’m not so much disappointed as I was shocked that it actually got that one sale. I hadn’t devoted a great deal of time to it to begin with so not much was to be expected.

I too felt a lot more at home with HubPages. They however didn’t exactly enjoy me linking back to my website in every article. Which is fine, they make the rules.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
