If you’re looking to start a full fledged photography business you might want to check out how I did it in eight steps.
Have you ever wondered whether or not you could earn money taking pictures? It doesn’t matter if you consider yourself a professional or amateur photographer, you can turn your hobby into money.
Stock photography is needed all over for things like advertising and web design. I don’t want you to think it’s as easy as pointing your cell phone camera at a butterfly and snapping a shot. This does require some degree of skill and remotely decent equipment.
Where Do You Begin?
A great place I recommend to begin selling your photography is iStockPhoto.
When you sign up you are required to submit an application and take a quiz. If you pass the quiz you then asked to submit three samples of your best work.
After your application is accepted, now you are ready to start selling your photography.
How Do You Earn Money?
iStockPhoto doesn’t simply buy your photos. After uploading your photos you are paid royalties. These royalties are paid when your stock photography is downloaded and paid for.
How Much Can You Make?
The amount of money you can make is totally dependent on your skill as a photographer and how many photos you upload. There are iStockPhoto contributors that make enough to quit their day jobs.
What Else Can You Submit?
iStockPhoto also accepts illustrations, videos, audio, and flash animations.
