Link building is one of the most important methods of SEO and traffic building. This is why the market to sell them is booming.
Not only do these links provide referral traffic from the linking websites, but also add some weight to your search engine rankings.
You probably see ads to sell high Google page ranked backlinks to your website sometimes insane prices. While some may find this strategy effective, I believe that the best backlinks are obtained from other bloggers and website owners reading great content. They are then compelled to share this content with their readers.
Some of the best backlinks are even created yourself.
These are some of the most effective strategies that I have found to build the most organic/free backlinks to my blogs.
List posts are the most often linked to types of posts out there. Everyone enjoys a good “Top 10” or “5 Easiest Ways To” post. Sharing these lists also adds to the experience of the readers of the other websites as well.
Although it’s always good to motivate, doing the opposite sometimes has a greater effect. An example of this is a post I made “5 Reasons Why You Will Never Get Rich Quick.” Typically you would want to know how to get rich quick, here you get the opposite. It draws attention and is likely to be shared. It’s also a list, double whammy!
This one is pretty obvious, you write an article for another blog and link back to your own website from it. Easy as pie (I couldn’t bake a pie to save my life, but thats besides the point).
Find forums in your niche and post to them with useful information. Be sure to have your link in your signature and not to spam links unnecessarily, it makes you look bad.
Submitting your blog or website to community oriented directories is a great way to get backlinks. I’ve listed a few blog submission directories that can make an impact.
